Qatar Museums will present its largest jewelry exhibition to date this fall. Around the World in Jewellery will showcase over 500 pieces, artworks, photographs, and sculptures at M7.

The exhibition, running from October 27 to December 26, 2026, will primarily feature items from Qatar Museums’ collections. Many of these objects will be displayed publicly for the first time.

Beyond Decoration: Jewelry as Communication

This exhibition takes a unique approach, viewing jewelry not merely as adornment or luxury. It explores jewelry as a universal language, revealing origins, beliefs, and societal structures.

Sections look into jewelry’s role in expressing status, its significance in rituals like marriage and coming-of-age, and its historical use as protection or a symbol of well-being.

Treasures from Qatar and Beyond

A selection from Van Cleef & Arpels’ patrimonial collection will also be featured through a collaboration with L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts.

Curated by Inezita Gay-Eckel and Paul Paradis of L’ÉCOLE, with spatial design by Johanna Grawunder, the exhibition examines jewelry through the lens of those who created, wore, exchanged, inherited, and protected it.

Seven Themes, a Global Story

The exhibition is organized around seven themes: Sea & Ocean, Nature, Cosmos, Body Adornment, Status, Customs & Ceremonies, and Protection.

Each theme explores a different facet of jewelry’s significance. For instance, Sea & Ocean focuses on pearls, shells, and coral, while Nature draws inspiration from animals, plants, forests, and minerals.

Interactive Experiences for All Ages

A Children’s Piazza will engage younger visitors with interactive activities and games inspired by traditional Qatari pastimes. This marks the first dedicated children’s area within an exhibition at M7.

Educational programs, children’s workshops, and a bilingual English-Arabic publication featuring research from jewelry specialists, historians, and curators will further enrich the visitor experience. Admission is free, with M7 open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday through Thursday and from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays.

Around the World in Jewellery is part of the Qatar Creates Fall/Winter 2026–27 season, continuing the cultural exchange supported by the Qatar–France 2020 Year of Culture.
